When I grow up and have my own money and can decide what i want to do with my life and my time, I'm gonna sign up for the 14 day course, and kayak to Indonesia and see the dolphins on the way :D
I think OBS really impacted me a lot.
I used to be super duper afraid of heights, like, i don't even climb the stupid rock wall. But, to my unimaginable surprise, I managed to climb the shaky thingy was was probably worse than climbing a rock wall. And I made it ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP :D and figured, it wasn't all that bad. Fom now on (as far as my Dad allows me), I shall go on the roller coasters at every theme park I go to (when I find the courage to, and someone to scream with me).
And, you could really see the difference in me when you compare the first-day-there-me and the last-day-there-me. On the first day, at the hall-like structure, there were like HUGE red and black ants crawling around the floor, and I was really scared they'd climb up my pants (and fyi, I was wearing track pants). But, on the last day, you could really just see me sitting on the road where a million and one ants (both big and small) were crawling, and i was in SHORTS.
Haha.
Kayaking the fun-nest ever. And we (Diane, Sonal, and I) were good! :D And, I managed to hold my pee for four half hours (actually, I hardly drank any water) cause I refused to jump into the sea to pee. I was quite sure I wouldn't be able to pull myself back up again. Haha.
Rowing the boat was the funniest ever.
At first, we were doing fine, just that we were going in the wrong direction, which wasn't too fine. Then, when we finally got it, the !@*&! Sandpiper just had to come and tow us (cause we were running short of time). When they let us go (to go tow another boat), we were frantically trying to row away, but we barely moved an inch when the !@*&! Sandpiper came back again. Well, I must say, I had fun controlling the rudder with Cherie :D
Trekking was the most tiring ever.
I was carrying the food bag, and now my back's aching like mad. I had no idea why my group had to bring a thousand and one cans of food along, when we barely even touched half of them. And the pot was kind of useless as well. But, the quarry was REALLY REALLY PRETTY :D like, really (:
Expedition night was the worst ever.
It was so hot and stuffy, my skin was practically sticking the tent (ewww...) So I got up, along with Cherie, Ong Lai, and Tong, then we found Su Ping, Stella, Jovina, and Ho, who were on night duty. And there was absolutely no wind at all though we were beside the sea. No land breeze no sea breeze. HORRID. Until, Jovina, Ho, and I started skipping stones into the sea. My most number of skips were two :D (well, that's not bad for a first timer). Then I went to sleep for a bit, and woke up like a zombie at four (all in all, I had about 2 hours of sleep, and the next day was kayaking day).
Oh, oh, that was the first night in my whole life where I pee-ed without a proper toilet :D
Day two was the scariest ever.
That's the day I climbed the high shaky thing, and learned how to kayak. Learning how to kayak wasn't that bad, in fact, it was fun. It was the forcing-us-to-capsize(is that how you spell it?)-part that was scary. The moment I capsized, I knew something bad wo;uld happen, and indeed, water started invading my eyes, taking over my nose, and filling my ears. It was horrible. And, my pants were heavy (cause of the water) and loose, so I couldn't climb back on properly, cause they were falling >.< My group was the coolest ever.
According to dear Faisal: "You may not be the best, but you can always to your best".
Yeah, our group wasn't the best, but we did our best, and that's what matters (:
"A warrior of light shares his world with the people he loves" (:
What I experienced and felt during OBS could never be possibly put into words which could describe it so perfectly. But as long as I remember, it's alright (:
Oh, one last disgusting incident:
On the last day, we were cleaning up the store, when someone accidentally squished a lizard (yes, ewww...). So, naturally, it detached it's tail, and it's tail started wriggling. If you looked properly, you could see that the head and its four legs were still somewhat intact, and remained in the same crawling position the lizard was in (before it was squashed), which was gross. Only the main body was pink and squished.
So, the tail continued flicking for like, a minute or so? Then it stopped. And like, two minutes later, the gross-est thing ever happened:
The lizard tried to push itself up.
And it wasn't a hallucination. Diane saw it too :D
Oh, and the guy in charge of camp 2 looked a lot like Jabez.
And, there's this female trainer who looked a lot like Miss Su (just friendlier and nicer looking)
I really don't mind staying in OBS for a few more days (and skip one week of remedial :D) I'd even sacrifice my blood for the mosquitoes.
OBS aside...
